It's HI-USA's 75th Anniversary this year, and the San Diego Council is taking every opportunity to join in the celebration! Please join us for our week of celebration!
- Discover your inner explorer with our Travel Workshops. HI-San Diego is partnering with REI's three San Diego locations to present World Travel on a Budget.. Whether you are planning your first trip abroad or just wanting to hone your travel skills, our volunteers will provide plenty of tips and tricks to help you get started on your next adventure. All workshops are FREE and open to all, starting at 7pm:

- Prowl the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter with hostellers from around the world on Wednesday, August 26, as we open the doors to our Downtown hostel for Breakfast For Dinner and Pub Crawl. You will find out interesting facts about hostelling and hostellers on our scavenger hunt, and then join our hosteller group as we visit the diverse pubs of the Gaslamp Quarter. Don't forget to wear your PJs!
- Want a quieter celebration? The gang at the Point Loma Hostel will be firing up the grill for a BBQ on Friday, August 28! The hostel, noted for its friendly atmosphere, will host the BBQ and Open House for hostellers and community members. Don't be surprised to see someone bring out the guitar to strum as everyone toasts marshmallows over the fire pit.
- Bring the whole family on Saturday, August 29, as we celebrate our Anniversary with an Ice Cream Social at the William Heath Davis House. We are blocking off Island Avenue, between 4th and 5th for an afternoon of live music, a raffle and silent auction and ice cream! The party will include opportunities to learn about hostelling's past and to take a peek at hostelling's future.
- If you love to bicycle - and want to be a part of two of San Diego's most unique rides - then join Team HI. 75 riders will pay just $75 to celebrate 75 years of HI-USA. By joining Team HI, you will get to ride both Midnight Madness Fun Bicycle Ride on August 15, as well as Bike the Bay on August 30. Click here to find out more about Team HI and to register.

Hostelling is educational travel. HI-San Diego advocates global awareness with two welcoming, comfortable and affordable hostels to over 15,000 people annually. With a full kitchen and comfortable common areas available to guests, hostels are designed to provide a forum for intercultural dialogue. Community members are invited into the hostels through volunteering and through community service projects.
